No, these courses and tutorials are pre-recorded and at present there are no 'live' elements such as conference calls - although this may change in future. Pre-recorded content means you can access the workshop content any time you like, in your own time zone (wherever you are in the world), at a time most convenient to you!
Registration fees vary, depending on the length and topic of the course. There are also differences in fees between scheduled courses and off-the-shelf 'Felting Foundation' video tutorials.
Felting Foundation video tutorials are cheaper than scheduled courses, as they are shorter and do not involve contact with the tutor (in scheduled courses there are opportunities for Q&A).
The cost of each course or tutorial is clearly listed in its description. There are no hidden costs, but please note that materials are not included in the registration fees for any of the the classes or tutorials.
No, materials are not included in the registration fees for either scheduled courses or video tutorials, but have been kept as low cost as possible, and you may find you already have many of the items on the list in your home or studio. Care has been taken to provide detailed descriptions where necessary, in anticipation of any questions you may have.
If you want to take a peek at the Materials List before you register, please take a look at Materials List PDF in the relevant course description. You will also find a fully illustrated version of this list in the course platform after registration, along with a Materials List Q&A pdf and a Suppliers List pdf.
Yes. The course platform that host my courses is Ruzuku. They take care of all the technical stuff and make sure things run smoothly.
Once you have signed up and paid for a course or tutorial, you will be asked to create a Ruzuku account with a password. This is a simple and straightforward process. Note that this will only happen the first time you purchase a course on this platform. You do not have to create a new account for each course, they will all be gathered under your personal profile. If you already have a Ruzuku account you do not need to create a new account.
When you log in to Ruzuku, you will see My Learning Library at the top of the page. Click on a course name to enter that course and access the materials.
If you have any technical problems click on the SUPPORT link for Ruzuku support help-desk.
No, you cannot the download the videos.
For scheduled course, you will retain access to the entire course contents and videos for at least 12 months (sometimes longer), as specified in the course description. This will give you ample opportunity to work through the course contents and replay videos as needed.
For shorter video tutorials, you will retain permanent, lifetime* access to the course contents.
*Lifetime means as long as I am able to communicate, or as long as the platform is in existence. If, for some reason I have to close the classroom permanently, you will be notified in advance by email.
All video demonstrations and step-by-step instructions are in English.
A reasonable command of English is required to get the most out of the classes and tutorials; you are the best judge of this. I make every effort to speak clearly and at a steady pace, however if English is not your first language, I recommend you watch the videos as many times as you need to, and pause when needed. Full video transcription in English and full-text search are also available, if reading English is easier for you.
You could also take advantage of translation features in your web browser. Chrome has a feature called "Live Caption" that will automatically add closed captions to videos in several languages. On your computer (Windows or Mac), open Chrome. At the top right, select 'More' and then 'Settings' and then 'Accessibility'. Turn Live Translate on or off. If you want to get Live Translate in a language other than English: Next to 'Translate to', select the 'Down' arrow and then your preferred language.
I am fluent in English and Dutch, and have a reasonable command of French and German. If you're a speaker of those languages and are considering signing up to a scheduled course, I'm usually able to read your questions in any of those languages, and to try and reply in them too. There is always Google Translate too. Together we will figure it out!
Yes!
Part of the joy of teaching for me is in meeting and getting to know people, the energy generated by being in a studio and going through the creative journey together, and being able to touch and handle your work with my own hands... This is not something I plan to give up entirely.
I aim to achieve a balance between teaching online and in person, so that those of you who prefer to learn in a physical environment can still do so, while broadening my availability to those of you who are unable to afford/take time off/travel to a physical learning environment.
I know many of you are interested in an online mask making class!
At this point I do not yet offer this, but I am working towards it. In the mean time, rest assured that all of my online courses and tutorials currently on offer (or in development) incorporate techniques and approaches that I use in mask making too, and aim to provide you with a sold basis for when online mask making classes becomes available in future.
In the mean time, if you are really keen on any other particular topics, you are welcome to make suggestions via the contact form on this site. Whilst I can't make any promises, I am happy to take your suggestions into consideration!
Head to the 'online workshops' section of this site, and take a look at the detailed course or tutorial description. There you will find more answers to questions relating to each specific class. If, after reading, you still have questions, please email me at gladys@gladyspaulus.com or send me a message via my contacts page on this website.
